Craniosacral Therapy:
Craniosacral Therapy (CST), as defined by the Upledger Institute, is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body’s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
Reiki (pronounced RAY-key):
Japanese word representing universal life energy, the energy which is all around us. It is derived from rei, meaning “free passage” or “transcendental spirit” and ki, meaning “vital life force energy” or “universal life energy”. Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities, and improves and maintains health. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery
Infant Massage:
Having numerous benefits for baby, parents and society, loving touch lessens tension, fussiness and irritability. Digestion is aided and this can provide relief of gas and colic. Massage is also a wonderful way to lessen stress parent and baby. Touch conveys nurturing and love, the essential ingredients for emotional and physical growth and well being. Studies have shown increased weight gain, and immune function. Myelination of nerves is also increased. These things in turn are needed for brain and muscle development. Parents become more aware of baby’s nonverbal cues. One-on-one communication instills a message of love and security. As your infant learns to relax and release stress, sounder and longer sleep is often the end result.
